Millions of smallholder farmers want to change their circumstances but cannot seem to break out of extreme poverty. They not only lack skills and resources to make their farms more profitable but are also held back by worldviews rooted in feelings of powerlessness and low self-worth. These farmers are also increasingly vulnerable to irregular rainfall and seasonal patterns. Since 2016, World Vision has used the THRIVE (Transforming Household Resilience in Vulnerable Environments) model to help farmers build improved and resilient livelihoods.
