(October 2019 – September 2020)
Despite the impacts of COVID-19 and Cyclone Amphan, the India Child Protection project continued to empower, teach, and advocate for children and their families as well as provide resources for basic needs.
Despite this progress, violence against girls continued to be a significant threat during the pandemic. To address this, nine Girl Power groups from Darjeeling District, in partnership with Border Security Force and District Legal Services Authority, launched an advocacy campaign and used street theater to create awareness against human trafficking.
The project team distributed dry rations and personal hygiene kits to women and children living in the red-light district and vulnerable families with girls who are at risk of trafficking.
