Bio/Story
Catherine's journey with World Vision began through child sponsorship, continuing a legacy started by her mother decades ago. Through those sponsorships, their family has witnessed God's hope and love tangibly demonstrated in the lives of children and communities around the world through World Vision's ministry. As they have become more involved, their hearts have been especially drawn to children and families living in extreme poverty. While it is important to help them survive with dignity, their prayer is that they would also be equipped and empowered to thrive economically, become self-sustaining, and ultimately be a blessing to others in their own communities. They believe this reflects God's heart—that transformed lives can, in turn, transform other lives.
Both Catherine and Phillip have always been "numbers" people. Catherine served as a Controller before transitioning into personal financial planning. During the pandemic, she stepped away from her career to care for her father during his illness—a decision that reflected her deep commitment to family. Phillip is an investment banker who advises business owners on succession planning, primarily through Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs). His work has given him a unique perspective on legacy, stewardship, and the transformative power of economic empowerment. Over the years, Phillip has seen that when people are given the opportunity to build assets, create sustainable livelihoods, and invest in others, the impact extends far beyond financial security—it strengthens families, communities, and future generations.
Catherine and Phillip have been married for 12 wonderful years. They do not have children—although Catherine likes to joke that she already has one to take care of: Phillip! Over the years, they have learned to treasure family deeply. Catherine lost her father, and Phillip lost his mother, experiences that have strengthened their appreciation for the time they have with loved ones. Catherine has one brother, and Phillip has two sisters. They are grateful for the family God has given them and for the opportunity to extend that sense of family to others through their partnership with World Vision.
The couple enjoys traveling together and exploring different cultures through food. Wherever they go, they enjoy learning from people and witnessing how God is at work around the world. Their faith is central to their lives. They attend The Crossing Church in Las Vegas and, while spending about four months each year in Taiwan, worship at Banner Church in Taichung. Recently, they started a weekly Bible study with friends in Las Vegas, which has become one of the highlights of their week. Whether through their church, their local community, or organizations like World Vision, Catherine and Phillip are always looking for opportunities to serve, encourage others, and faithfully steward the blessings God has entrusted to them.
Professionally, Phillip serves on the Finance Advisory Committee of The ESOP Association, where he contributes to discussions on issues affecting employee ownership and ESOP transactions. He is also an active member of ProVisors and the Exit Planning Institute, organizations that bring together professionals committed to helping business owners build, preserve, and successfully transition the value of their businesses. These communities allow Phillip to collaborate with other trusted advisors while continuing to learn and serve business owners with excellence.
