Dear Friends,
Carla and I have chosen to invest in World Vision because we place a high priority on caring for the most vulnerable in the world and with World Vision’s programmatic excellence and Biblical Empowered Worldview curriculum, we can deliver impact at scale.
James 1:7 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the widows and orphans in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” We believe caring for the most vulnerable is central to God’s heart and we want to be a part of the mission to fight injustice.
World Vision’s heart for the most vulnerable is manifested through their proven programmatic excellence. While we care deeply about an organization’s efficiency, we care even more about their effectiveness. As part of our responsibility to be good stewards of God’s resources, for over 15 years Carla and I have conducted in-person due diligence trips, examined World Vision’s rigorous internal program metrics and evaluated external studies by organizations like TANGO. We have concluded that World Vision’s programs are both efficient and effective. While no organization is perfect, we strongly believe that World Vision delivers best-in-class results. This gives us the highest confidence that the hard-earned wealth you invest with World Vision will be stewarded efficiently producing maximum impact.
We believe that God cares deeply about the most vulnerable in the world, but poverty isn’t just physical, it can be spiritual too. World Vision’s Biblical Empowered Worldview training helps people realize that they are created in the image of God, have value, skills and resources and a responsibility to put them to use. This mindset transformation not only helps eliminate physical poverty but spiritual poverty as well. Mark 8:36 says “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul?” World Vision ensures that you or those who World Vision serves, don’t have to choose between one or the other.

It takes an organization with deep technical capabilities, programmatic consistency and seasoned in-country expertise to confront and help defeat extreme poverty. Many philanthropists, with the best of intentions, have had poor outcomes because the programs they funded didn’t have the necessary required strategic depth or in-country experience. World Vision’s work in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is just one example of how they do it the right way. It is one thing to drill a borehole and quite another to have a water distribution system reliably operating for decades. World Vision’s ability to deliver life-saving access to clean water, as verified by a study conducted by the University of North Carolina, is just one example of how they can help ensure your gifts make a lasting and life-saving impact. By partnering with World Vision, you gain immediate access to proven programs that can scale along with your generosity.
We would encourage you to invest with World Vision because you will have a material impact in the effort to bring life, hope and a future to 300 million people while experiencing tremendous personal contentment and joy as you move from success to significance.
By God’s power and with your help, 300 million men, women and children across the world will be empowered to permanently break the chains of extreme poverty. You will help impact countless lives. Think of that for a moment. Be part of bringing life, hope and a future to 300 million people. Their lives will be changed forever, as will yours.
A byproduct of investing in what is closest to God’s heart is an increase in the joy and contentment in our own hearts as we transition from success to significance. 1 Timothy 6:6 says “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Lean into this for a moment. As we give and serve, we experience a renewed sense of wonder in everything that remains. We enjoy life in a richer, deeper and more satisfying way. Having increased joy and contentment isn’t why you should engage but it is undeniable.
Don’t underestimate the huge impact you can have on ending extreme poverty. You have been equipped for this moment. Like Esther, you were made for such a time as this.
Join the mission. Move from success to significance. We knew partnering with World Vision would save lives but didn’t know that two of them would be ours. We would be honored if you join us, side-by-side, to end extreme poverty.
See you there,
Carla and David Hillard
