It’s hard to believe that summer is nearly finished! School is back in session, there is rumor of leaves changing color, and cabins are being closed and boats pulled out of the water. Summer is rounding the bend in full flight, and is about to hand off the baton to autumn. This year that means it is time for our big Economic Empowerment meetings! It’s the last chance now to sign up for the Economic Empowerment Forum, and time to invite friends and family to the Ending Extreme Poverty In Our Lifetime event.
World Vision is delighted to send you our Executive Briefing for Economic Empowerment. You are an integral part of our work to end extreme poverty by 2030, so we want to keep you updated on our progress! If you are new to our work, please take a moment to learn about our THRIVE model and how it's helping to break the cycle of poverty and sustainably improve family's education, health, food security and nutrition, and shelter.
Our Exciting September Events
This September World Vision is hosting two events you will not want to miss. They each have a different focus, and each have unique components.
The Economic Empowerment Forum
Designed as a deep dive into the heart of our Economic Empowerment work, as one might expect during a pandemic, the 2021 Forum will be VIRTUAL. As a result, we are excited that even more people will be able to join us, since travel time and costs and jet lag will be minimal. We will be meeting on the 16th and 17th of September, and will largely focus on our THRIVE program on the 16th, and Recovery Lending for Resilience on the 17th. The expected highlight of the 16th will be a very detailed exploration into the results of our THRIVE program in Tanzania with World Vision's external evaluation partner, TANGO. The results are more than impressive! They indicate that our hopes and dreams for THRIVE as a mechanism for moving smallholder farmers out of extreme poverty have been exceeded. The expected highlight of the 17th will be a discussion among the leaders of our microfinance work about the amazing results that we are seeing from our Recovery Lending for Resilience work in 28 countries around the world. The Forum will feature interviews with staff and donors, videos, panel discussions, and chances for everyone to participate. It will be fast-paced, exciting, and deep.

Ending Extreme Poverty in Our Lifetime
YES, it is possible to end extreme poverty in our lifetime. and YES, you should register and plan to attend! Why?
This event is something that many of you have been asking for. It is an easy way to introduce your friends, family, neighbors, church friends, or fellow Rotary or other service club members to the exciting work of ending extreme poverty through World Vision’s Economic Empowerment ministry. We will spend 60 minutes explaining the core issues of extreme poverty and how we are defeating them. It is relentlessly paced and engaging, and we’ve been working on it for months.
Like the Economic Empowerment Forum, it will touch on all the components of our programming, and the evidence of our impact, although not in the same depth. Of particular interest to many, we will screening the world premier of the video of our THRIVE program in Tanzania.
We are pulling out all the stops to invite people to this event. Over 20,000 of our closest friends who are on the World Vision mailing list are invited. All readers of the Economic Empowerment newsletter are invited, and we encourage you to consider “Watch Parties” and group events. To register, please go to worldvision.org/endextremepoverty
