Life-changing reality for 10 million women and girls.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate with Esperance Twayigera, a wife and mother in Rwanda whose village recently got clean water. It's a familiar story. But this specific story is Esperance's. In her own words,
“Clean water changed my life and has given me choices I didn’t have before. I’m able to save money every week to put in the bank. I’m in a savings group and have learned accounting skills. People look up to me and I have dignity. Water has given me hope. I’m a strong woman. Thanks to World Vision and clean water, there are a lot of strong women here.”
Instead of spending walking hours for most of the day, Esperance was able to plant and tend a garden and care for the family’s cow. Now she grows nutritious food for her family, with enough vegetables left over, as well as milk, to sell for a profit. Instead of missing school because they were sick from dirty water, her children are thriving in class. Even her relationship with her husband has improved.
We see you Esperance. And we celebrate with you and the 10,000,000 women and girls who have gained access to clean water through World Vision since 2016.
Every 10 seconds,World Vision reaches one new person with clean water.
