Gertrude 2Mother's Day is a time when we thank and honor the special women in our lives. Moms, Grandmas, Aunts, and others who have influenced and enriched us as people. Ask any mother what she wants more than anything in the world, and she’ll likely say, “for my children to be safe, healthy, and happy”. For mothers living in extreme poverty, this gift is hard to come by - especially now with the threat of COVID-19.  But community health workers like Gertrude Jima are giving moms what they want most - access to knowledge and resources that empower them to care for their children. Give yourself a gift this week and read, watch, and learn about what some awesome women have been doing in light of COVID-19. You will be encouraged.

The team is hoping 250 people from around the country will join them on May 16th. Masouma-1

Masouma Rasouli is a Water Engineer for World Vision in Afghanistan. Afghan culture is such that hygiene habits are taught by mothers, but the years of conflict have resulted in many mothers never having learned these skills themselves. So, World Vision has created a program to help empower schoolgirls by teaching them healthy hygiene habits and how to share them with their families. These efforts are critical in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Masouma is a strong female role model and a shining example of the resiliency of Afghan women. To hear her story, click here.
