One last piece of home

A young Ukrainian girl at a transitional refugee camp in Romania cuddles stuffed animals she brought from home for the journey.

Imagine for a moment you have 10 minutes to pack your things and leave home, possibly for the last time. You’re a mother. In those brief moments, you must get yourself and your children dressed for winter, packed, and out the door. In a flurry of scarves and parkas, you gather necessary documents, perhaps throw a few snacks in a bag, and tell your children to pick out one item they love to take with them on the journey.

What would they choose? What would you choose? ...

Every step you take is one they won't have to.

15 million reasons to celebrate

A Rwandan woman wearing a bright blue dress smiles from inside her house; a large plate of tomatoes rests on the open windowsill.

More than 15 million women and girls like this Rwandan woman have been equipped through World Vision programs over the last six years.

Motivated by our Christian faith, World Vision has been a leader in gender equality work for decades. It’s integrated into everything we do, because we know that when women and girls gain equal access and opportunity, everyone wins. Thanks to the dedicated investment of donors and partners, over the last six years more than 15 million women and girls around the world can now live stronger, safer, and more productive lives.

Dativa's story

A Rwandan woman and younger girl stand together in a field. The older woman, in a white tunic and yellow headscarf, smiles down with pride with her arm around the girl, who’s wearing a bright green dress.

Dativa (left) smiles down with pride at Keza, whom Dativa has raised since age 4.

The Kinyarwanda word Dativa means one who wears a traditional crown. The name fits 49-year-old Dativa, who bears herself like royalty. But that regal countenance hides the many sorrows life has tossed her way.

As a girl, Dativa desired to serve others, dreaming of becoming a doctor or a community leader. But family and societal issues thwarted her plans …

A God-sized goal for Christian Discipleship

A teen girl from the Philippines smiles while holding open a Christian book at her church; an illuminated sign behind her shows the words “light” and “making disciples.”

Jonalyn, 16, is part of a church that World Vision supports in the Philippines. Her faith in God has been strengthened, opening her eyes to the numerous blessings she and her family receive every day.

During a busy day of teaching, people brought children to Jesus so He could pray for them. His disciples tried to shoo the kids away, sternly telling them to leave the Teacher alone. Hearing this, Jesus turned to His disciples and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Mathew 19:14, NIV).

We seek to remove any barrier that keeps kids from experiencing the kingdom of God and the love of Christ. That’s why World Vision has a God-sized goal to engage 15 million children, youth, and adults to know Jesus and grow in an active faith through our Christian Discipleship work.

Through the Christian Discipleship Fund, your partnership and investment will help:

  • Partner with churches and Christian ministries to provide Bible-based programs
  • Strengthen churches to revitalize children's ministries and equip families on biblical parenting to help create safe and loving homes for children
  • Start Sunday schools, after-school Bible kids' clubs, camps, and Vacation Bible Schools
  • Develop programs for youths to help them explore God's purpose for their lives
Help children and youth come closer to Jesus
