The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately impacting women and girls, threatening to reverse the progress that has been made in recent years to improve their lives. The economic impacts are different and more severe for women than men, especially as women often lack access to financial services and loans.
One important way World Vision is putting women at the center is through special loans that allow businesses to reopen or for business owners to diversify their operations in order to restore their livelihoods.
In just six months (October 2020 - March 2021), VisionFund® provided nearly $120 million in recovery loans to more than 200 thousand clients, 79% of whom are women.
Each one of them has a name and a story, like Marie (pictured above), who couldn't believe "someone would take a chance" on her. Thanks to our partners, we did.

This innovative pilot program will improve the way we design, monitor, and evaluate our programs with a fully integrated focus on women, girls, and persons with disabilities. Special thanks to our partner Imago Dei Fund for making this possible.
