What? No Google?

Whether you search online, listen to podcasts, read books, or rely on your previous education - you have practically unlimited resources to information and knowledge about the subjects that matter to you.  Not so in much of rural Africa where our Mother & Child Health projects are located.  Too often, the difference between life and death is simply the lack of basic information.

Community Health Workers are local women and men who volunteer to be trained and equipped by World Vision as front line caregivers in their communities.  They visit families to share timely and targeted health information and provide treatment that’s otherwise not accessible.  They are motivated, trusted, and an incredibly sustainable and cost-effective way to reduce unnecessary suffering and deaths.

Currently, World Vision has a massive global network of more than 220,000 Community Health Workers who are reaching millions of people with vital information that can improve and even save their lives.  The right support, at the right time, through the right people.  It’s working. Read our current impact report.

Mark your calendars!

Prayer changes things

Uganda: Please pray for our ongoing activities supporting health clinics in Hoima, Uganda. Hoima has among the worst outcomes for women in pregnancy and newborns in the entire country of Uganda. One of the focus areas for the Every Last One Mother and Child Health project is on improving the quality of care during pregnancy, labor & delivery through nurse/midwife training, access to water and hand washing stations at the clinics, and donated medical equipment and supplies.

Zambia: We pray for one of Zambia’s districts where are Lundazi-Chikomeni Area Program is located. It is currently the leading district with maternal deaths, we pray that the engagement of traditional and religious leaders on factors contributing to mother and child health complications can have an impact in the area we are operating in.

Somalia: Health service delivery is still recovering after a tropical cyclone destroyed several health facilities in our program area (May 2018). Resulting flooding temporarily made several locations inaccessible. Pray for the affected families who are already extremely vulnerable and for our dedicated staff working tirelessly to respond.
