The generosity and passion of our donors and partners was staggering in 2021, resulting in the best fundraising year in World Vision U.S. history. And the Strong Women Strong World™ community showed up in a mighty way!
You came to events and invited your friends, followed us and raised awareness by sharing our stories on Facebook and Instagram. You used your influence by advocating for critical policy and spending changes, and invested your resources in women and girls like never before.
Because of you, millions of girls and women are equipped to change the trajectory of their lives. Let's keep doing what "we can" so She Can!
Learn, grow, do. Repeat.
A new year brings new possibilities. The promise of renewal, hope, and an opportunity to do better, to be better, for ourselves and others. One way we can do that is to learn more about things that really matter. In that spirit, we're kicking off a series of short informational segments in our newsletters this year. Let us know what you think at swsw@worldvision.org.
What are SDGs?
17 Goals to Transform Our World
The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. This month, we highlight SDG #1 No Poverty.
After decades of steady progress in reducing the number of people living in extreme poverty, the COVID-19 pandemic brings the first reversal.
In 2020 global extreme poverty rose for the first time in two decades. About 100 million additional people have been pushed into or back into extreme poverty with the majority of the new poor being found in South Asian and Sub-Saharan countries.
Did you know the number of women in extreme poverty far outpaces that of men? Even before the pandemic, the 22 richest men in the world had more wealth than all the women in Africa – and that gap has only grown.
We cannot recover with only half our potential. Economic investments must integrate deeper gender dimensions. Read more about gender and poverty from UN Women.
