World Vision wins USAID's competition on organizational learning
World Vision has won big with USAID's 2021 Collaborating, Learning, Adapting (CLA) Case Competition, where two of the case studies we submitted won top prize and a third one was a finalist. This is a rigorous competition that World Vision has never won — until now. Not only does winning this competition help strengthen our reputation as a learning organization with technical expertise, but it illustrates that World Vision represents USAID's gold standard for its partners and helps us be more competitive for larger awards.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary International, and World Vision partner to fight malaria
World Vision, the Gates Foundation, and Rotary International have announced a partnership and financial commitment to launch Partners for a Malaria-Free Zambia. The program will train, equip, and deploy 2,500 additional community health workers who will test, diagnose, and treat patients with malaria in the most highly affected districts in Central and Muchinga provinces. The three organizations have committed $2 million each that will provide effective diagnosis and treatment for more than 1.3 million people.
"By empowering [community health worker] volunteers, the project connects people in areas with little to no access to healthcare with trusted members of their community who can test for and treat malaria," said Bill Feldt, a member of the Federal Way Rotary Club.

Bestselling author inspires literacy around the world
Unlock Literacy for Kids is a project inspired by bestselling author Debbie Macomber to rally and unite readers of her books and others passionate about education to unlock literacy for kids in Rwanda and the U.S. "I believe God can make a way when there is no way. Reading was the way God brought me to where I am now. And I want to share the transformative power of reading with every student," says Debbie.
Partners can join with Debbie and World Vision to bring the joy of reading to more kids.

In 2021, the world continued to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic along with wars and political unrest. Refugees and displaced people fled violence and persecution. Natural disasters left destruction in their wake. The world struggled with sorrow. But we have a faithful God who walks with us through it all. He gives us many reasons for joy and celebration. In these photos, World Vision's communicators from around the world have captured the sorrow, the heartache, the joy, the celebration, and the hope of this extraordinary year.
